"Left Holding
the Bag (Board Bag)"
DISTURBING NEWS FROM OUR FRIENDS AT WWW.WAVEHUNTERS.COM:

Surfers please be advised that Continental Airlines and United Airlines have"embargos" in effect to several key surf travel destinations in Mexico and Central America.

What "embargo" means, is that they are ABSOLUTELY NOT accepting surfboards (or any excess baggage) on these flights indicated.

If anyone is booked on these carriers, at these times, to these destinations affected, contact a customer service supervisor at the airline in question immediately and appeal for a full refund, or call your travel agent.

The airlines are not making any exceptions. If you show up at the airport for any flights where embargos are in effect your boards will not be uploaded onto the plane. In effect therefore, your surf trip will be ruined.

Surfers, boycott continental airlines at all costs. also, do not fly United 889/888 to and from LAX and Costa Rica from May 30-Aug 15, or Nov 1- Jan 13. Alternative surf-friendly airlines are Lacsa, American, Mexicana, Alaska, Delta, Taca, Lan Chile, America West, and Aeromexico.

Be on the lookout for more embargos, more routes effected, etc... the embargos seem to be becoming more common.
